Welcome to Reddit, the front page of the internet. The people deciding on the admissions vary from university to university. How would you define ‘worth saying’? I wouldn’t be able to vouch for your interviewers, but Cambridge will interview over 80 percent of applicants and an interview is far more important than what you could have spent months crafting and revising on an online form, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Saying something purely about the prestige would probably come across quite strangely. However, I do wish you luck and hope it goes well!
The interviewers for my academic lecture told me later in the year that one of them scans the personal statement just before the interview, and the other one doesn’t read it at all so they’re not necessarily that bothered about it!
I personally didn’t write anything for mine. I’d probably stick to things related to the course or teaching supervision system, focus of the course, etc. More importantly, the SAQ includes a space to provide an Additional Personal Statement, where you can explain what you like in particular about the university and the course. I did maths, and I think I commented on something I liked about the nature of the course less modular than cambrige places but didn’t really say much. You can also include information about your career plans if any! Only your friends should be able to see your profile, wall and photos.

They probably wouldn’t harm, but they would be ignored. If you feel the information is pertinent then go ahead, but like others I would warn you to be aware that it might not get read.
Would you say UMS is more important in sciences rather than arts given the subjective marking of essay subjects and languages? I am a aeditional of the more personal supervision system so I may well make reference to that.
Dr Richard Barnes was criticised in the press for the admission. What sort of questions should I expect?
Would it reflect poorly on me if I did not enter anything? Only subject-relevant content in things like personal statements is of interest to Admissions.
I don’t consider what I write being ignored as anything tragic — I’d rather include it and have them ignore it than not include it and worry whether I should have. I used my extra statement to mention how I thought studying science more broadly would be beneficial to my general scientific education.
It does depend on the subject, but I was explicitly told by one of the admissions tutors that while a bad personal statement would harm you, a good one will not really help.
How would you define ‘worth saying’? Interviews, Exams and Extra Work. I misread a deadline and submitted my SAQ with about half the questions missing an answer and still got in for medicine, so I don’t think it’s anywhere close to essential.
